had my zafira serviced recently 2ltr dti 2001 after getting the car
home we noticed the car with the spanner light on after revving the car
it disapeared so we took the car back and they checked it over and said
it is a glowplug problem it is nothing we have done they said surprise
surprise i got into an argument and left as i was getting no sense a
few mornings before the service the car has been difficult to start not
the usual let the glowplug light go out and fire straight away so they
might be right just seems strange that the light came on after it was
serviced maybe coincedence the spasnner light copmes on every morning
and then goes out after a quick rev and stays out if it is a glow plug
problem how easy are they to change can i do it myself how much does a
set of four cost all help appreciated thx

Got the same problem myself with my 2002 Astra 2.0 DTI. Not had the fault
code checked because they wanted £76, but same symptoms as yours. I've seen
plugs for sale on the net for £20-30 for a set of four, I'm not 100% sure
which ones I need yet though. I'm intending doing the job myself, don't
think its going to be that difficult. After having a look under the bonnet I
think the only pain is that a couple of them are under the steel tube that
goes from the turbo to the intercooler so you'd need to take that off. Also
the leads that clip on top of the plugs don't look long enough for you to
just pull them off, think you'd have to open up the pastic tray that they
run through. Nothing difficult though, I'm certainly going to give it a go.
I'll let you know how I get on.

The pipe comes off easy enough - undo the clamp at the turbo end - don't
drop the O ring - and the 10mm bolt where it fastens to the engine and push
it out the way. The wire is long enough without taking the loom apart - just
squeeze the slotted sides hard and pull up.
A word of warning - sometimes the glow plug can either snap or pull the
threads out of the head - rare but does happen - be gentle with them.

Not going to be able to help you now mate. Took car in and asked for them to
just fix my aircon, planning to do plugs myself (thinking they would cost me
a fair bit from garage). When I picked the car up they'd changed 3 glow
plugs too for free, apparently they are covered by warranty. So don't need
    to do the job now.
