Hi all, anyone know if Vauxhall dealers do a locking kit for the Zafira
Club spare wheel,or has anyone found a way to make it more
secure?.........seems to me a mite vulnerable to thieves! TIA ..Doug.

    These do them:

IIRC, you have to drill a hole in the bodywork near the rearmost seat wells.
I guess this means that changing a spare will become an order of magnitude
    more difficult.

As my spare is a steel wheel and 2/3rds worn, I would like to think that it
would not be a great prize and probably be left behind - the 'tilt alarm'
may go off as well. Note that any thief will damage the cradle with or
without extra protection. Thus, I have decided not to bother with extra
    protection.

Thanks for reply and info. car is only few months old and spare wheel
still unused.Still, if fitting lock means drilling hole in body,I`m not keen
on that !.....also might invalidate the warranty.......will need to have a
    rethink on this !...Regards.........Doug.

  4. Around £40 from your local dealer. They do two types, a cheaper one for £40
and a more expensive Osprey one.

the problem is that the tyre wall presses against the underside of the body
when you tighten up the clamp.
if you "deflate" the tyre then the clamp is loose enough to unclip and remove
    the tyre.

i found a bit of skirting board cut to the length of the diameter of the
wheel rim Most effective as its thickness is a little bit more than the
    "bulge" of the tyre wall.
this presses against the underside of the body and deflating the tyre now has
    No effect.

however the would be thief doesn't know this until he deflates the tyre.
    usually with a knife :-(

Thanks for replies to my original post, guys.I can see it needs some serious
thought!....still not keen on drilling holes in body to fit locking
kit............mebbe I will fit a disguise on spare tyre to make it appear
as `bald` as it`s owner! .....and not worth stealing. Only kidding!......but
    then again....... Regards all.........Doug.
