having read various messages regarding the easy theft of the Zafira Spare Wheel i did some investigating. it seems to me that the "bolt" holding up the spare wheel carrier relies on "backpressure" of the tyre against the underbodywork to stop the carrier from being unhooked. Thus the deflation of the tyre would allow sufficent play in the bolt for the carrier to be unhooked. If, however, the backpressure was supplied by a bit of packing between the hub and the underbody (say a short piece of skirting board) then deflating the tyre would not work as it no longer touches the underside. the alternative is to deflate the tyre first so that the bolt can be tightened a bit more. How legal this all is and whether it will impact on the insurance/guarentee i've no idea so you might want to check first with your dealer dogsBollix
