Hi - I'm a new subscriber to this forum, my wife and I are the proud owners
of a Zafira Design 1.8 model which we have had now for nearly a year and a
half. The only regret I have at the moment is having a radio/CD player (CDR
    500) fitted which works fine except it won't play mp3 disks. I would rather
switch to a cassette player and then buy one of those cassette adaptors that
allow you to connect up an mp3 player. Anyone any ideas how I can do a swop
over without having to spend too much money? Or any one with a cassette
player of about the same age that they would prefer to swop over?
    Regards.

  2. Go and buy a new cd player that plays MP3's as well you tight git.
Plebs like you should sell the zafira and buy a 15 year old skoda.
A wreck like that may be suitable for your poor finances.

Failing that put your wife on the game until you can afford a decent mp3
    player.

I tried a couple of these adaptors in my Sony car cassette and
neither of them worked, the Sony would spit the adaptor straight back
out. These were allegedly 'autoreverse friendly' adaptors. So I think
    that route is dangerous.

I ended up paying roughly 100 notes for a CD player in Argoose which is
MP3 friendly & has an auxiliary 3.5 mm jack, so can be use directly
with iPods etc. Of course you lose the time / date display on the dash
    if you go this route.

Your Vauxhall dealer does a reasonably priced unit that will slide
straight in and work with the remote display and steering wheel
    controls.

The cassette player options are tacky and not brilliant. If you do want
to do this your Vauxhall dealer will probably have an old
radio/cassette unit he will give you or sell you for £20

You canb get autoleads adaptors that make some stereos work with the remote
and the display. Buy a CD unit that is compatible with these so go to a ICE
    specialist, not Halfords
