Can someone advise how much I should be expecting to pay for a cam belt
    replacement on a 1.8 petrol Zafira? (44k)
Would you recommend just the belt or the other stuff too?

    Thanks

My local Vauxhall dealer charged £115 all in for a belt change.

If you can get that done at that price with a full belt kit-with all the
    pulleys, bolts etc-then do it. I'm speaking as a guy who's 2000 1.8 zak
snapped its belt at 70k. (I posted all the details on this group when it
happened, including what I did about it, if you remember)

dealer, but that was for belt, pulleys, tensioners and water pump - the
latter added about 100 quid to the bill. Peace of mind is expensive
    sometimes:-/

I did my Carlton myself for about 40 quid including belt and waterpump
and it took maybe a couple of hours in my garage as the pump is fiddly
    to get off.

Indeed many moons ago when I had a 1600 cavalier MK2 I did the cambelt
changes myself, but the 16v Zafira is much more fiddly and this was one
job where I figured it was worth having a warranty :-/

Did whoever did the job warrant against consequential damage or would
they have just given you a new belt if the old one snapped?

Consequential damage, wouldn't have been worth getting a main delear to
do it otherwise. In theory anyway...

Thanks for your replies. £115 is a brilliant price. My local VX dealers have
quoted £220 and £210 however I have found a local ex VX mechanic who is
doing it for £145 all in. I did one a few years back on my 16v GTE and have
done a few 8v's but I guess I'm getting old and lazy these days !!
    cheers, Mike

Ask them for a Masterfit price - lot cheaper than full up pricing.

Had it done for £135 on Saturday. Dropped at 10.15am collected at Midday !
    Can't fault it.
Genuine Vauxhall parts. Checked the old rollers, they were spinning freely
but sounded dry and different to the new one.
