Zafira 2.0DTi doesnt like starting uphill

Discussion in 'Zafira' started by Uk_friendly_fire, Aug 13, 2005.

  1. This is a pain - does anyone know the cure for this?
My Zafira does not want to start and takes ages cranking and pumping the
accelerator to get it started if left a few hours parked uphill. It seems
the fuel drains back into the tank. Is there a solution?

Vauxhall diesels are notorious for the lift pumps failing.

  4. Thanks for your comments - I thought it might be something simple like a
non-return valve failing. I'll have to put up with it until the pump finally
    fails then!
    Thanks

What version of the DTi engine have you got - the earlier the engine,
the more likely they are to need replacing - heard rumours that
Vauxhall take about £400 to replace them

Before you get into big money fit a new set of injector leak off pipes -
bits will cost about £20-£25 including the 3 plastic T pieces and you can
fit it yourself if you have any DIY capability. If when you pull the pipes
off they have oil in them instead of diesel then injector seals have gone -
if not seals are fine. Old pipes some times break when you pull them out of
the injectors but not hard to pick old bits off. Garages will change you
about an hours labour to do it.
PS - it will take some starting afterwards cos or the air drawn into the
    fuel system.

  10. I have looked for these pipes before but could not locate them. Exactly
    where would I find them?
    Thanks

Thin rubber pipe that links all injectors and then goes to pump - take the
plastic engine cover off and you will see them at the front. I have got some
leak off pipe for sale on Ebay cheap ( sorry about quick plug)
