Where's the code reader socket?

    As per above on a 98 Vectra 1.8 Mk1 or possibly Mk2

I keep getting the engine management light coming on when I switch the
engine on. Usually if you switch off and back on it clears but driving down
the motorway today the engine cut out when I was in the middle lane. The rev
counter was bouncing up and down big time too. Swiched off and back on and
it started and ran ok but with the light on until the next time I stopped.

Not sure about 98, but when I had a 96 veccy it was under a removable cover
just in front of (or maybe behind? - can't recall) the hand brake.
    Convenient for paper-clips...!

Thanks. It's just in front of the handbrake. I did find it shortly after I
posted (but didn't have a chance to say that I had) and did the paper clip
    test.

Found codes relating to crank sensor, cam sensor, coil A and coil B. When I
looked under the bonnet trying to trace the sensors I found the crank sensor
cable was disintegrating and the 3 or 4 wires inside could be shorting out.
Insulting tape for a temporary repair and I've ordered a new sensor.
