weird problem

A 55 Zafira has a strange problem. The service light comes on for no
good reason. If it has been driven and stopped for about 20-40 mins it
comes on. It the engine is turned off and on it clears. Shorter stops
are OK as are longer ones.

But sometimes when the light is on the car will not start or will just stop.

And no error codes get stored by the system. Is this unique?

 

Firstly, just to be petty It is not the service light it is the engine
management light.

You say there are no error codes stored but how did you read them? The
proper Vauxhall Tech2 unit will also look for 'codes not present'
which cheaper readers do not. That is part of the reason why it costs
so much. That and the facts that it 'writes' as well as reads.

Having said all of this, I can't help with the actual problem.

Unless anyone gives you a pointer I recommend taking it to someone
with a proper Vauxhall tech2 diagnostic.
