I have a late '99 astra turbo diesel .which we have just changed oil - &
filters for oil & air. Checked fuel filter and is ok so was refitted. Timing
belt was also changed. all seemed to be ok but the light on dash that looks
like an engine block goes out as usual when first turning ignition on but
within a few hundred yard [ ok - metres if you like ] this light comes back
on & remains on. Everything seems to be ok & car runs well. Does anybody
have any ideas what the problem might be.

Dunno if this is the same.... have a 1.7D '93, oil light used to come on
(dimly) stay on a bit, go off for a few days, then stay on for a few days.
Turned out to be a faulty sensor in the engine block - replaced that, good
    as new.
