    hi all,

    Just bought meself a 1.6 16v vectra premier in met. gold, it's on a 96 N
plate with 71,000 on the clock, it's very clean and tidy, a bit under
powered but considering i've had to come down from a 2.9 24v scorpio
cosworth i'll get used to the smaller engine, i must say though i'm very
impressed with this little run around, it has 5 alloys, air con, elec front
windows, seriously needs a cd player but i can live without for now, just
fitted parking sensors, cool ones with a screen and blue led's when u hit
reverse, got plans for this car but can anyone give me the heads up on what
to look out for, would rather nip any probs in the bud before they
    flower...... TIA

Not things you can do much about, but for what it's worth our 96 Veccy 1.8
GLSi (150k+ miles) has suffered failures of...

Rear door lock - couldn't open door to repair it...
Digital display failure (segment by segment failed - now all invisible)...
Intermittent Screen washer pump (pump operates but doesn't always prime)...
Engine oil leak (but not enough to need topping up between services)...
Starter motor... intermittently didn't engage so changed it.
    Cam sensor thingy.

In other words, very few problems (most of the above occurred in last 20k
miles) Always starts first time, never conked out on the road, scarcely
ever needed a new bulb, still on original cat. etc.

Just remember to change the cambelt every 40k miles - regardless of what
    service book says.

Despite Clarkson, I reckon it's a great car. Enjoy.

I used to have a N reg Premier and found out it had loads of unused electric
    plugs inside.
I went to the local breakers and got 2 rear interior lights with grab
handles, a pair of sun visors with lights built in and a front interior
light with extra map lights all for £10. All the wiring was there I just had
to put a fuse in the empty holes in the fuse box.
