  1. Im looking to get a vectra v6 with around 70k on it and a service history,
but as i'm on a budget of around £1400 is there any major faults i should be
    looking for???

Usual ECOTEC stuff for starters; crank sensor failures / sticky IACVs /
blocked breathers leading to failing rocker cover gaskets / HT leads
tend to last 80-100K and are a pain to change. The only V6 specific
issue I can think of is that the oil cooler seals tend to failaround
100K, this is in the middle of the 'V' so is a major hassle to sort out.

Oh; I forgot the DIS packs, these don't last forever either, and are
also a pain to change if you're not adept at keyhole surgery.

Just in case my messages sounded unduly negative, I've run old carltons
/ cavaliers / omegas for years, usually buying stuff at around 100K
milage / 1-2 grand cost. At this price level I expect to have to spend
a few hundred quid a year keeping them going - mind you I drive 30K or
so a year, so I get through a lot of consumables.

  6. Hi mate

Ive been lucky, i got myself an "R" reg Vectra V6 for £775 with 74k on the
    clock
one owner from new and a full main dealer service history!
So to be honest if it costs me a couple of hundred quid a year for the 2/3
    years that
i will own it for i wont be complaining...........well not much ;)
And i only do about 5k a year coz i have the use of a company van 24/7 so
    its
    not gonna be driven hard.
