I have just ordered a new Vauxhall Vectra SRi which comes as standard with
the CD 30 radio. Please could anyone tell me what type of connector the
aerial has. I think it is the fakra type but would like someone to confirm
it. I need to know so that I can order the correct accessory for my sat
    nav.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks for reply. I thought the CD30 was made by Blaupunkt. The connection
I want is not for the GPS signal but for the TMC connector on the cradle.
The antenna that comes with the sat nav unit is messy and I would like to
connect to the car aerial. I can get a fakra splitter with TMC adaptor from
    Germany.

    Thanks again

    The connection
    you still have me puzzled.
i known the TMC is a snap in but why do you want to use the aerial of a car
    radio..
    this could be good
i've been in the electronics game 35yrs.........always learning.

The TMC is broadcast by commercial FM radio stations. The antenna that is
supplied with the Sat nav (Sony NV-U70T) is just a wire that you have to
attach across the windscreen of the car. I have found a splitter that takes
the cable from the roof aerial and splits it into two. One continues into
the car radio and the other can be put into the sat nav to give a high
quality FM signal which in turn will provide the TMC information. The
splitter is at http://www.cartft.com/catalog/il/540 but I cannot find them
in the UK. I live in a rural place where the normal FM antenna does not
pick up much of a signal.
