    HI Guys

I have just bought an R-reg 1.8 Vauxhall Vectra.
The previous owner was selling it because he was driving along the road and
    the oil light flashed on.
He says that he pulled over within 30 seconds but in that time the engine
    seized.

I was originaly going to fit a replacement engine but thought it may be
possible to repair the old engine.
I presume that the oil pump has stopped working though I will not be able to
start stripping the engine down until the weekend.
I was wondering if anyone has had any experience of replacing the oil pump
whilst the engine was still in the car.
Is it possible? is it straight forward?
Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

No point in replacing the pump if the engine has seized - you need to be
checking camshafts for damage and same with crank. I think you will find
the cost of repair is more than a good recon engine. Lots of these engines
about if you want one out of a crashed car.
