Hi i have been having quite a few probelms with a vectra i bought
recently. Recently the engine management light suddenly appears whilst
i am driving, I would drive the car and everything seems ok, then for
a split second the car jerks, the management light then appears, but
the car seems to drive ok again. This has been happengin for the past
couple of weeks. Today Whilst trying to start my car, it would not it
would not turn over at all, it just seemed lke the battery had died. I
eventually got the car started via a Jump start, drove it, then turned
the engine off, and tried to start again, again it wouldn't start. Any
ideas on what the probelm could be, could it be something, to do with
the battery or starting motor, and why was that management light
appearing? I initially thought it may have had something to do with
the coil pack, as this was recently replaced when the car was jerking
quite heavily, if anyone has any ideas or suggestions, wud be much
    appreciated. many thanks.

Only a guess, but it sounds like two faults. First you need to pull the
    codes. Try this link:

Hi thanks for the suggestions guy, but i wouldn't knw the first thing
about trying to pull codes, and i think the model of the car is such
that only an fcr could read them. anyway I found that the battery was
really dry, so i put some hot water into the battery and left it on
charge overnight. It seems to have done the trick as the car started
no problem in the morning, is it possible the engine management light
    came on because of this?

a good possibility as the lo-volts might have triggered something.
hope you used distilled if it was dry.

    Hi
Having filled the battery with distilled water, the car starts fine
again, however the engine management light is still appearing, any
ideas on wat this problem could be? Thanks.

could be 1001 reasons, u really need to pull the codes.
if you are a member of the rac/aa (or know someone who is who 'happens to be
travelling in your brokendown car',) give them a call they carry the gear.

I would go for an overcharging alternator. This will put on management light
    and boil your battery dry
