    Hi all

got a 2L R reg vectra, with ABS and Traction Control. can anyone tell
me if the traction control is operational at all times, unitl i push
the TC button, does this turn it off, or is it the other way round.
i.e push TC button and it turns it on?

Also is it common to have spongy brakes on vectras, cos mine goes
nearly to the floor, it still stops ok, and has just gone through MOT
ok, the garage where i bought it from say that the brakes are fine,
and are supposed to be spongy like this.

    any help would be fantastic

    Cheers

  2. its always on until you press the button to turn it off. When you turn it
off there will be a warning light on the dash to warn you that its turned
off. Just put you foot down in the wet in 1st gear, you'll soon know if its
working of not. As for the brakes, i'll leave that for a vectra owner to
answer as i have a 3.0 Omega Elite. But i shouldnt think the brake pedal
should not go that low to the floor. Get the brake fluid level checked & /
or the level of brake pads you have left.

He has a CAR400 which is a standard Vauxhall unit.

You can get non-Vauxhall units but the Vauxhall ones are reasonably priced.
They also fit easily. All you do is pull out the old unit using the pullers
supplied and push in the new one. I sell them too!

They will work the remote display and any steering wheel controls but watch
out of he has (and uses) Trafficmaster. Only the CDR500 is Trafficmaster
compatible. You will need a further £25 loom for other units.

Someone else has already answered the TC question correctly.

With regards to the brakes, they do not sound right.

How old is the brake fluid? Vauxhall recommend changing it every two years.

What condition are the pads and discs in (and are they genuine Vauxhall ones
    or cheap pattern ones)?

I would take it to a Vauxhall dealer and ask them to comment. If they
recommend work they will give you a quote first.
