Vectra Alternator Regulator

    The red battery/alternator warning light on my 1998 2.0 GLS stays on after
    engine start and glows very bright with increase in rpm.

    I have checked the voltage across the battery as per Haynes manual and shows
    12-14 volts under load conditions. The Altlternator output appears to be ok.

    Any ideas?

    Is the diode incorporated in the alternator or is found elsewhere?

    Any help appreciated.

    the diode 'pack' and regulator is in the alternator
    classic symptoms of a naff alternator
