    Hi,
If I unlock the doors to my vectra manually and open the door the alarm goes
off, if I unlock the car with the remote then the alarm doesn't go off. The
battery died in june and was replaced at masterfit.

Is this a common problem? Has anyone had this problem and had it fixed?
    Prices?

    Cheers

I was told by my Vauxhall dealer never to open the door with the key if
I had locked it with the remote as the alarm would go off.

But you should make a point of using the key now and again to make sure that
    it doesnt gum up.

So locking it manually with the key should allow me to open it manually
without the alarm going off? Surely this backfires if the battery in the key
dies after you lock it with the remote - i wouldn't know about how to turn
it off by putting the key in the ignition and turning it on and off if I
hadn't been scouring the haynes manual and instruction booklet this morning.

    Cheers for the replies

After reading the above ... How do you get into your car, without the alarm
going off, after locking with the remote if the key battery dies.?

The instruction booklet said something about putting the key into the
ignition and turning it to a position for x amount of seconds and then
turning it off which should disable the alarm. As you can tell I'll have to
read it again... its a bit inconvinient though.

I just tested manual locking then unlocking and it didn't set the alarm off.
I might try and shift towards remote locking/unlocking at home and manual
    locking/unlocking elsewhere.

Sounds like manual locking does not set the alarm so you are leaving your
car unalarmed and there are plenty of bored teenagers around who know how
easy it is to get into a vectra with a big screwdriver in about 10 seconds!

Why not just carry a spare battery in your glove box - if it packs up it
will only take you 30 seconds to fit it and then press it to stop the alarm
    going off.

If you RTFM (read the f*@king manual) properly, you will find
this is how it is meant to work.

    Basically:-
1/ using the buttons on the key for remote operation: (a) press
the lock button once - this locks all doors, boot & fuel flap
(but NOT deadlocks), AND sets the alarm, confirmed with one flash
of indicators, (b) press the lock button twice in quick
succession - as single press, but WITH deadlocks, confirmed with
two indicator flashes, (c) press unlock button once - unlocks all
doors, fuel flap etc, and disables alarm.

2/ using the key in the drivers door lock cylinder: (a) twist key
rearwards once - this locks all doors, boot & fuel flap (but NOT
deadlocks), AND sets the alarm, (same as remote operation, but no
indicator confirmation), (b) twist key rearwards twice in quick
succession - as single key twist, but WITH deadlocks, (same as
remote operation, but no indicator confirmation), (c) twist key
forward once - unlocks all doors, fuel flap etc, but does NOT
disable alarm. To disable alarm, turn ignition on, and alarm
    will be silenced instantly.

I usually lock doors with key in door if I'm on a public car
park/dodgy area etc, to keep door lock cylinder free, but always
unlock with the remote (unless I actually want to test alarm).

Pop along to Vauxhall parts counter and get a couple of spare
batteries for you key fob. They are CR2032 lithium 3V button
cell £1.48 +VAT retail, £1.26 +VAT trade. Maplins also sell
them. You will need a small flat blade screwdriver to separate
the key halves, and the battery clips in/out.

The key fob batteries should be changed in accordance with the
    Vauxhall service schedule.
