Vectra 1.8 petrol tank leak quote

Discussion in 'Vectra' started by ßødincµs²°°°, Mar 16, 2007.

  1. Hi Lads,

Another nasty prob with my '98 Veccy (poor old granny...)
The petrol tank started to leak, definitely to replace. I've been given
a quote for 170 quid, parts and labour.
    Is that a good price?

    TIA

You can get vectra tanks for about 50 quid. So it is worth £120 to you
    to have it fitted?

A new original petrol tank for a 1.8 '98 Vectra is just 50 quid?
Or is it some aftermarket third party replacement that goes rusty after
    three miles? ;-)
The lowest quotes I found are from a local scrappy for 70 quid from an
MOT failure, and an aftermarket non-Vaux for 72.95 + P&P on ebay.
It's a petrol tank, forgive me but I'm not going for the cheap option.
How much is it for *the* original part?
And, yes, I'm happy to pay 2 hour labour to change a petrol tank, after
all it's a quite risky job, to be done properly and safely.

OE tanks are known for rusting so I'm not sure why you'd necessarily
want to use one. From Vauxhall I'm sure the cost would be quite a
lot. www.buypartsby.com has many cheap parts but they're usually of
normal aftermarket standard. For a vectra I'd be more than happy to
order one from there. Waxoyl/Underseal it it first if you're
    concerned.

As for the ebay and other more expensive items, where do you think
    they source them from?...

Thats a good site. I have just bought a Conti timing belt kit from ebay. The
same one was 5 quid cheaper on this site. Dammmmmm.
