Vectar 1.8

Discussion in 'General Motoring' started by Anthony Birch, Mar 23, 2006.

  1. I have a vectra 1.8 on a T plate. When I start the vehicle it cuts out
immediately and the ecu light flashes. Spoke to a colleague in the motor
trade and has led me to believe that it is the cranks shaft sensor on the
    car.

Would anyone please be able to tell me where i could either get a pdf
version of the service manual for the car or explain to me how easier job
    this is to do.

I believe it is the later engine.

    Thanks in anticipation.

If the light is flashing it is an immobiliser fault - try using your spare
key to see if it is a key fault? You haven't dropped the key and lost the
    chip have you?

  4. Thanks for all your advice been looking into this all day. Had a look at
the immobilise and it was the chip. Keep split open.

In that case it is going to be another query. Is there a way round it so i
can move the car. Secondly I am in nottingham and is there somewher close
possibly anyone knows of that would solve the problem for me cheaply.

    Thanks again

To the best of my knowledge the key chip is matched to the immobilser
which is matched to the ECU, so you'll need a 'matched set' of all
three to get anywhere. Hoepfully someone else knows a cheaper fix....

you should have a credit card sized card that came with the motor.
that will give you a sequence of ignition ons/offs to do. that will cure it.
to be able to move it

most of the keys/fobs that split open can be easily repaired by any tronix
person with a bit of savvy.

p.s. if your near epping forest/harlow area i'll do it for nowt, or post me
    the bits and i'll try.
