Vauxhall Omega Problems.

  1. Hi,

Is there anyone that can help and point me in the right direction?

I have a 1998 2.0 16v CDX Omega, in lovely condition, though it seems to
have a couple of problems that are getting on my nerves:( When the car is
driving along it seems to cut out for about a second and then the Engine
Immobiliser light comes on and stays on until I turn the engine off. This
seems to only happen when the car is cold.

The second problem is to do with the central locking. It seems to lock all
door except the drivers door with the remote, though if you use the key all
the doors seem to lock, they all also lock when you try and lock from the
    inside using the lock pin.

The third problem occurs when you switch the lights on, sometimes the
interior light comes on and will not switch off until you turn the lights
off. Once you do this you can then turn the lights back on and the interior
    does not come on.

    Please help:)

i think the first two are linked. problems withthe alarm system might be the
    route cause.
it could be an earthing problem, that would explain all three infact.
there are several straps linkingthe parts of the engine/chassis together.
the favorite boy is usually the one from the gearbox.

it might pay you (or not as the case maybe)
to bite the bullet & get vauxhall dealer to put it on tech2 system.

you could do the paperclip trick & read the flashes.
but i think in this case it's worth the £15-£20 to get the full readout.

wait for alan to reply to this msg.

i'd go by his recommendations always.

  5. I have fixed the problem with the lights, turns out that this is because I
    was pulling on the knob!!!

I have also fixed the central locking, I went out and boght a new motor and
    this did the trick:)
