    Advice needed....

The head gasket that has gone on my Astra....

The engine is now in bits at my local dealership....

Cylinder head has been sent away to be checked for damage and to
pressure test... this is apparently a specailist job that an
engineering company have to do as the dealership can't????

The car is 2.5 yrs old if that.... has less than 20K on the clock....
has been serviced regularly by dealership... and the important one....

    IT IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY!!!

Do I now say that the car is not fit for the purpose and start making a
REALLY big fuss... new engine... new car???

I am lead to believe that this is a MAJOR failure!!!

I'm not an expert on this, but I suspect (a) the warranty permits them
simply to repair, and you can't force them to completely replace; (b) after
such major work, you should be entitled to at least 12 months warranty on
the engine when you get it back - even if car warranty expires after 3
    years.

It may be in the small print somewhere, if you've got good eye-sight.

That said, there's no harm in asking...

You will be hard pressed to get any extension of the warranty. After
all, the warranty has done what was clained and is paying for a repair
    within 3 years/60,000 miles.

You could ask Vauxhall for a goodwill contribution towards your next
servcei but they will probably say no.

With regards replacing the car I would say your chances are zero. If
they did agree they could reasonably expect you to pay for 2 and half
years use which defeats the object!

    You are a total Twat!

    New engine ???

    New car ???

What line of business are you in?

Do you think a car should last for ever and IF it should go wrong, and the
extended warranty pays for it YOU are entitled to a new car

WAKE up and get a life!

    and the important one....

I think you will find the value of a new car puts it outside the rules of
    the sale of goods act.
