    The water pump went on my astra(bearings i think)which caused the cambelt to
    snap.Changed both these and put new tensioner on but when started it sounded
    like it was misfiring so took plugs out and all 4 had black sooty deposits
    on them so figure there's sum valve damage.
    Anybody advise me on what to do next as i don't want to scrap it as been a
    good car and had no seriouse problems with it over the 5 yrs i've had it.

    Take the head off and see what has happened. If no guide damage shouldn't
    cost a fortune.
