    Hi folks

I had my cambelt changed on my Vectra 2.5 V6 16 months ago and now the
tensioners have started whining. I phoned the dealer and they quoted
250-300 quid. This seems strange as they only charged me 150 for the
cambelt change. Looking at the difference in price I'm assuming that
they didn't do the tensioners etc during the cambelt change. Isn't it a
Vauxhall recommended practice to change the tensioners etc when the belt
    is changed?

It isn't Vauxhall recommended practice but we normally recommend it all the
same. Especially on V6s because the labour far outweighs the parts cost. In
practice we recommend it on most cars now there is a reasonably priced kit.

You don't say the cars age/mileage but if the car has a full service history
it might be worth asking Vauxhall to contribute.

    Hi
It's a 2000 (W reg) with 56000 on the clock and serviced regularly with
fully up to date service record book. I can't see Vauxhall contributing
to a car around 4 year old :( This is my 3rd Vauxhaull (5th if you
count a Chevrolet when I was younger and the Bedford CF that I have) and
the only one to have given me any trouble. The Cavaliar I had before
this lasted around 160k before it started playing up and the Astra
before that 150k and going strong when I sold it. My CF has 76k on the
clock and blows a bit of blue smoke but hauling 2 1/2 tonne of motorhome
around it's to be expected! I did have a Ford once but the less said
    about that the better!!!
