    Hi,

Just been to a dealer and have been offered £5400 max for my 15 month old
Black Corsa C SXI with just under 10,000 miles on the clock.

Is this a fair trade in price ? The salesman justified it by showing me a
    new style Corsa
SXI brand new for £6988 what do you guys reckon ?

    Cheers
    JJ

Just been to a dealer and have been offered £5400 max for my 15 month old
Rough figures, new Corsa 1.2 SXi 3dr:

£9,583 Retail price on the road
    £ 105- Road tax
    £ 38- 1st registration fee
    £1,406- VAT
    £ 400- Delivery
    £ 694- Dealer profit margin
    -------
£6,940 Cost of brand new car to dealer from Vauxhall

If the dealer can buy a brand new one from Vauxhall for £6,940, he's
obviously going to pay somewhat less for one which is 15 months old with 10k
    miles on the clock.

    A 02/52 Corsa 1.2 SXi 3dr with 16k miles books at £5,550 in Glass's Guide,
and that's about what they're making at the auctions. Possibly the dealer's
a couple of hundred low, but it's not a ridiculous offer.

You'd be better off selling it privately.

    Hi Steve,

    Thanks for the reply mate.
Deal was done yesterday for a 53 pre reg'd Astra 1.6SXI 3dr in Star Silver.
Astra was £8888 but adding the metallic now £9188 what do you reckon ?

They are giving me £5400 for the corsa but guess I have a week to sell it if
    I can
maybe get £5600 to 5800 if I am lucky.

    Cheers

Seems cheap to me - but the 5dr would be easier to sell later. There's
probably not a lot of profit for the dealer in the new car - hence the low
    bid on your Corsa.
