TID shows PROGRAM?

Discussion in 'General Motoring' started by Patrick E. King, Jul 11, 2005.

  1. Car is 98' Omega 2L Petrol with Triple info Display and CDR500.
Due to missing pixels I've just replaced the TID but now the Info line which
should show the date shows the word *Program*
When I set the date it appears to accept it OK but reverts to showing the
    word Program again shortly afterwards.
When Radio or CD Player in use the display is correct.
It's as if the unit is accepting the correct date but not storing it.
Is the unit faulty (bought from eBay) or am I missing something?
    Regards
    Patrick

Needs to have the " code index" programmed - dealer job unless you find a
garage that has a diagnostic machine that will do it.

  3. Thanks for the info...got that done on Tech2 yesterday but during the
process I asked the garage (Opel Main Dealer in RoI) to get me the code for
    the CDR500.
They removed the unit in order to get the serial no. but a number of
attempts to get the code failed because, they say,the unit is not the
originally fitted unit and therefore the serial no. and chassis nos. do not
    match up!
I would have thought that a main dealer could get the code even if its not
    the original unit?
Anyway, I now have a CDR500 that displays the word SAFE .....permanently!
Any options besides a new unit?
    TIA
    Patrick

Get it decoded - look in yellow pages - cost about £15.
