Tech 1 and 2

Discussion in 'General Motoring' started by Gareth Edmondson, Jul 13, 2005.

  1. Hi Guys,

A silly question but is it possible to make a Tech 1 or Tech 2 using a
laptop and a connector purchased from MotorWorld?

I guess the only stumbling block would be the software used by the machines.

Has anyone here set up a self diagnosing kit?

    Cheers

Autotap is available for laptops, but will only read EOBD codes. There are
various code readers for the EOBD system which are completly moble. I
recently purchased one for less than £80 from the American car show at
Billing, and it's a real dandy. Well woth the money.

If you just want a code reader, take a look here

Looks like a good price to me (no, I'm not connected with these people in
    any way)

Out of interest, which one did you go for (info from webpage - "CTOOL is
    presently available in two models VW/Audi & OBDII/EOBD.") - I'm assuming
the OBDII/EOBD is appropriate for Vauxhalls?

    Yes mate, the OBDII works.
Comes with a nice booklet containing all fault codes and meanings as well.
