I'm thinking of fitting a Sony CDX-2200 radio into my Astra, for MP3
    playing facility. I have three questions;

    (i) Will the time, outside temperature & radio station still show in
    the dashboard display?

(ii) Will the steering wheel audio controls still work?

(iii) If they won't, is there a way to make them?

    Any help appreciated

"Time and Temp will be okay, however the radio will not update the clock via
    RDS"

If simply plugged into the car the radio station will not show on the
display, it will show the date as if the radio is off.

The steering wheel controls will be dead.

    All is not lost.

You can get an adaptor to get the display to show the station and one to
make the wheel controls to work, there is even a combined adaptor available.
(I had one in my astra and it now runs in my zafira).

DONT but from Halfords as the prices are too high. Invest £3 in a copy of
one of the boy racer mags like Max power e.t.c. or just browse one in
Smiths. Call up the HiFi shops in the back and you'll get one easy and
    cheaper than the High Street.

  3. If it helps...Halfords have the CDX-C2200MP3 at £89.99

    Not bad.

And contrary to belief....we're not ALL tossers ;-)

From memory, it's an Autoleads PC9-106 that will connect the remote controls
up, but as mentioned earlier the date will blank off when the stereo is on.

    Cheers,

Thats for every individual to decide. I merely posted the link in response
to a price/source, with no additional commentary, either good or bad.
At the end of the day you pays your money and you takes your choice. The
    operative word here is choice.

    cheers
