Just had a new battery installed on my 98 Vectra, when i came to putting the
codes into the radio for some reason it won't accept the code. I have a
Vauxhall Car Pass and on the reverse it gives me a list beginning with the
VIN number and then a security code, then further down the list it says
Radio Type/Code and a four digit number. I have tried inputting both these
numbers (security number and radio type/code) but for some reason the radio
won't take either number, now i only have 5 more attempts before i get
locked out. Have I been using the wrong numbers? These are the only numbers
that i can find, anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

Yeah, I had this problem with the wifes 96 vectra. put the code in on the
little red card, no go.turns out i had the wrong card. car was an ex fleet
car bought from my employer at discount. contacted maintenance for the
correct code, no probs. have you checked the vin no on the car pass against
the one on the car? maybe if the first owner was a company or fleet hire you
    might try contacting them.

btw, IMHO a reputable workshop should use another battery with low power
rated leads and clips BEFORE disconnecting battery, just to avoid this
    hassle.

  3. It could be the wrong car pass but it has probably had a new radio fitted.

Your local Vauxhall dealer can get the right code but they will charge you
£10-15 for the privilege. They will have to pull out the stereo to get the
    correct serial number.
