    Morning All,

I have a 1.8 Vectra on a P reg and the Radio is very fuzzy on any medium
wave channel when the engine is on. When I turn the engine off, I can hear
Radio 5 Live! in crystal clear (nearly!) quality.

Unfortuantly, switching off the engine at 70Mph to catch a commentry of a
football match displeases the wife. Any ideas to why this happens?.

I would expect it to be some sort of electrical disturbance, but would it be
the radio, the ariel or something else?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Matt

    external aerial or widescreen thingy?

does the noise change with engine speed? get worse?

always done it? just got the car?

will help, but need more info.

    thanks Mike

    External Ariel
Fussiness stays the same no matter what speed.
Bought car on 60K, was fine, now on 140K but can't remember when it went
    wrong.

Flipping the windscreen wipers or turning the lights on and off used to make
it seem a bit clearer, but that doesn't work anymore.

If it is a hatch then the co-ax wire comes loose at the aerial. It is a
joint about 2 inches from the aerial. The co-ax is wrapped in foam but peel
it off and check it is tight. You need to gently lower
the head lining. 10 min job.
