Poor Vauxhall servicing?

I have just had my 2.2L Vectra into the main dealers in Milton Keynes for its
very first service (1 year service).

When I collected the car after the service I checked the oil before
I left thedealer (A Ford main dealer once managed to put far too
much oil in my previous car making a right mess after I drove it
    - I have always checked the oil immediately after a service ever
    since!).
The oil did not look new to me. I pointed this out at the time to
the manager, but he insisted that it had been changed and that new
synthetic oil looked like that. I was not convinced. The invoice
stated that semi-synthetic (SG/CF) oil had been used. Is this correct,
    or should it be synthetic?

I have now noticed that the wheel trims have not even been removed.
(They still have the exact same distinctive tie wraps as were on
before the service). I would have expected them to be removed to
check the brakes as part of the service. My newly acquired TIS CD
    states:-
"Disc brakes : Remove wheels (mark rim position to wheel hub) and
    visually check lining thickness."
    as part of the service.
Is not removing the wheel trims the norm?

I am starting to think that I have paid £140 for a stamp in the service book
    and nothing else.

    Thanks for any feedback.

    Ken.

The wheels don't come off on a first service as brake inspection is only a
visual check but wheel nuts should have been loosened and then re-torqued to
correct figure. How did they do this without taking trims off?????????
Didn't you get a service tick sheet with your bill?

    Thanks Mark,

I did get a service tick sheet, and I have just checked and the part saying

"Loosen wheel fastening, and re-tighten to torque"

    is ticked as being done.

They obviously have some miraculous tools that can do this without removing
    the wheel trims!

I will have to read the warranty small print and see if I can get my local,
    small, independent,

trustworthy garage to do the servicing in future, and still keep the
    Vauxhall warranty.

    Cheers,

    Ken.

  4. Mmm ... I wonder how many other boxes they ticked ?

I bet there is not a trace of oil or dirt anywhere on the service check
sheet... Well there wouldn't be would there ?
