    Hi, I have a 2002 52 Reg Astra SXI

It is fitted with air con as standard, but could anyone tell me if a pollen
filter is fitted to this model?
I cannot find anything in my manual about this, if one is present where are
they located and how are they cleaned?

    Thanks

The pollen filter is fitted into the heater distribution housing. You will
need to remove the glovebox, lower facia panel and passenger side footwell
air duct for access. The filter cover is retained by two pins or two bolts
and clamps depending on fit. NOTE: You will be working in the vicinity of
the passenger side airbag so should disconnect the battery (making sure you
know your radio code first) and wait AT LEAST one minute before starting any
work in this area. Cleaning is done by replacement.

Suggest you get yourself a workshop manual. Haynes are sometimes slated but
for this kind of job they are good enough. Last I saw Halfords were selling
    them at a reduced price.

It should have a pollen filter fitted behind the glovebox.

Every 20,000 miles, or 24 months; whichever occurs first.

I do mine on a yearly basis (Xantia) you should see how filthy it is
    when it's removed

The given value is that which is recommended by Vauxhall. I suppose one must
take into consideration the conditions the vehicle may be subject to. It's
never a bad idea to shorten the replacement interval. It's a shame that
replacement wasn't made simpler by manufacturers.
