Does Haynes manual for Omega B (from '94) cover automatic gearbox ?? JaC
Not sure, but note this info... (watch for page wrap) http://www.haynes.co.uk/webapp/wcs/...10001&storeId=10001&productId=17625&langId=-1
Yes bit not in any great detail. There are only 7 pages and covers removal/replacement of the gearbox and some external components such as switches, links and piping. It also covers transmission fluid replacement. It may be worth looking in your local library for a copy and then deciding if it's worth buying. If they don't have it in they may be able to get a copy from another library for you.
Could I ask someone to scan & mail these 7 pages to me ? As Haynes does not cover X2.5DT diesel, buying the whole book does not make great sense to me. I do have German book 'Opel Omega ab 1/94' by H.R.Etzold, which is AFAIK the only_one detailing 2.5 and 2.2 turodiesel engines servicing for Omega. On the other hand, there are only 2 pages about automatic in Etzold... JaC
Still waiting Absolutely unbelievable things happened to my Omega, bought in Germany. First, two side back windows (in station-wagon) blown-up the third day I owned the car. I thought for many days I was shot by joker, other people had equally unbelievable theories. When I studied diffrent diagrams I learned, tha small&short copper pattern marked 'Alarm' at the lower corner of the window was used as a glass-brake indicator. Also the heating of the rear window is used as a glass-brake indicator. The fatal day I switched-one the heating..... Second, after four weeks the automatic gearbox lever just stopped to operate at P, 2 and 1 positions. You could only move the stick between R, N and D, when 3 was at the mid-way of the problem. Making story short (the heart attack and hospital treatment of my serviceman at the same day might not be of interest to you ;-)) after dis-assembling of the lower valve-plate we found-out there was a small metal piece (I do not know how to call it in English, king of a rivet looking as a cut-along pipe, very small, used to secure position of some elements)blocking the main gear valve. It was obvoius the gearbox was serviced before in Germany by very clever worker..... Third, I'm still fighting. When putting the stick in 'Reverse' the gearbox fuse blows. I paid almost a fortune (as for local prices, I guess you would be delighted with the L40 bill) to make very sofisticated electronics check only to learn from them the cable between gearbox 'selector' and reverse white lamps is short-cuted somewhere. BTW also central-locking hesitates to work and I found out there is the same short-cut responsible for.... Would you buy a German car from the German again??? ;-) JaC
