Omega 3 litre manual cannot select reverse gear

    Hi

    I have a 98 Omega Elite manual, a rather rare animal with a 5 speed manual
    gearbox. The problem is it has suddenly stopped allowing me to select
    reverse gear. When you lift the collar to select reverse gear the gate does
    not open. It appears that whatever the sliding collar on the gearstick is
    attached to in order to to open the gate has become detached. Also when you
    lifft the collar to select reverse and then release it does not pull back
    automatically as it should perhaps further indicating it has become
    detached. If anybody has any experience of this problem or suggestions for
    the remedy I should be grateful.

    Unscrew the trim around the lever and lift it up and see what happens.
    Might be something simple.
    How many points have you got on your licence? 3.0 and manual - you must
    have a few!!!!
