    Hello
I have a problem with my zafira 1.8 which started with a blown
headlight bulb( drivers side) which I changed ok after removing air
filter top to get my big hands in. But in doing so I must have disloged
a small air pipe from the air filter to the carb and the engine ran
like a pig. I refitted the pipe and now the engine warning light is on
and the engine is in safe mode. I have found out that I can get the
fault readings from the light by shorting pins 5/6 on the plug under
the handbrake. However there dose not apear to be a pin 6 in this plug.
Please can you tell me what I have done wrong and how to retrive the
fault codes. Thank you for your help in this.
    Kind regards
    Steve

What model year is the car and was it the small pipe that runs to a small
electrically operated valve situated just behind the airbox ?

You will need a code reader, I presume this is a recent example.

Next time you are changing the bulb take the indicator bulb out first - lots
    of room.
