I have a 2005 New Zafira. The service is due in Aug 2006. Alperton
Vauxhall dealer quoted me £150 for the first interim service. I had a
range of quotes from other dealers ranging from £150 - £250 pounds.

Does anyone know if the service can be done by other independent
garages like nationwide car centres. Or, has anyone had there car
serviced at Alperton Vauxhall dealer in Wembley, and did they go a good
    job.

    Michael.

  2. I seem to remember a new law that service can be carried out at any
garage as long as approved parts are used and it isn't a railway arches
    outfit.

You can go anywhere without invalidating the warranty but ........

They must genuine or equivalent quality parts. Vauxhall oil filters are
reasonably priced so make make sure they use these. Also make sure they
    are not using cheap oil.

If you ever have to ask Vauxhall for a goodwill payment they are likely
to refuse if you do not have a full Vauxhall dealer service history.

The dealer should be checking for outstanding recall/reworks at every
visit. If you go there ask them to do this. Quite often they can do
free upgrades/reworks that are not part of the compulsory recall
    system.

I would always use someone who has experience of the make/model (this
can include specialists) as they will know what to look out for and
    will catch problems early.
