need help exchanging Radiator in Astra 1.6 (2000 model)

  1. Hi,

recently got into an accident where my car got damaged, the radiator
had a chunk taken out of it on the bottom left, where the coolant for
the radiator runs in from the collant tank...

now, there is a big hole there about 2cm big, and I can do anything
about it, I want to buy a new radiator, but I want to install it myself
as I am not too bad with mechanics... but I have neverchanged the rad
    in a car before.

Can anyone give pointers on what cables to disconnect, first and then
if I can just slide the Condnser and Fan into place in the new Shell?

What cables and wires do I reconnect once the radiator has been
    reassembled?

    any pointers?

Also, can a front bumper be placed on fairly easilly too?

    Much appreciated,

    Seán.

The bumper is easy on a 2000 astra:- t25 screw in each top corner, t20 screw
in each bottom corner into the arch liner, three plastic clips underneath
into the subframe and two more clips top center into the front crash bar.
the clips have pins which can be prised out then the clip comes out.
Once the bumper is off you will be able to see how to remove the
radiator and fan assembly which is basically disconnect all the hoses and
the wiring loom at the junction below the lefthand headlamp then unbolt the
two plates that hold the bottom of the rad and lower it down and forward
from behind the crashbar ( you might find it easier to remove the crashbar
first although this is not strictly necessary it gives you more room to
    work).

    Hope this helps
