hi just tried to replace a faulty cam sensor on my 1996 1.8 vectra and found
the replacement has 4 wires thet are to be spliced in the wiring loom.
the original or faulty sensor has only 3 wires which i can marry up with the
new one but that still leaves a black wire that i have no idea where it
    should go
vaux dealer says its a modification but are less than helpful even though i
got the part from them.maybe they want the extra cash from the labour
any help would be much appreciated cos i havent taken old one out yet incase
    i run into big problems
    TIA colin

wire has got a plug that fits onto sensor on one end and other end has wires
stripped.old plug not compatible with new sensor so i have to join/splice
wires from new lead into wire loom but lead is about 14" long and only just
reaches into loom protective cover behind rocker cover.
could vaux dealer have sold me the wrong one?

the original connector has 3 wires and has wire shield around them. just
strip back the wiring join the 3 colour coded wires then join the black wire
to the shield wire. hey presto a very simple job.

sorry for being thick but i pressume that under the outer sleeve there is a
wire mesh encasing the other three wires ie the shield wire?
