Hi, just a quick question to those that may know/have seen this before. I bought a Zafira (I gather the same clocks are in all/most Vauxhalls) had driven this for exactly 250 miles the mileage total gage flashed and reported "--------". I took this to a main dealer who fixed it by puling the power to the ECU for 5 minutes. (apparently). They said that if it happened again then the clock would need to be changed. 10,000 miles later it has happened again. Normally I would not worry but these occurrances seem to be "too well spaced to be a fault" I may be wrong but would the mileage have been "fixed" at somepoint in this cars life, maybe this is an anti-tamper thing to alert you? Any comments or am I being paranoid ;-)
There seemed to be a faulty batch of clocks in the Astra and Zafira. Only way to cure it is to replace it but if you can live with it doing it every now and again just pull out fuse 22 and refit it - you only need wait about 5 seconds. No anti-tamper fitted.
Is the car still under warranty? Talk to your Vauxhall dealer even if it isn't because it is a known problem. Most were done when nearly new though. -- Alan Steele Steeles of Worthing www.steeles.co.uk
