Is it a 120 or a 150?

I have been looking at a Vectra 1.9 Elite, and it was advertised as a 150PS
CDTI. It has the red "TI" on the badge.

I just looked up the insurance on confused.com, and they have that reg plate
    as a 120PS engine.

Looking at Parkers, ther is no 120PS Elite.

DVLC have that reg plate as 159g/km which matches none of the figures on
Parkers (the various trims come up as either 154 or 157g/km)

How can I tell if it is a 120 or 150PS? I viewed a sample HPI report on
their website, and it mentions the trim, but not the engine output.

Forgot to say, it is a 54 plate.

Make a note of the VIN number and ask at your local friendly Vauxhall
dealer to check the VIN against their database.

Open the bonnet - oil cap on a 8 valve 120 is on the off side and on a 150
16 valve is on the near side of the engine.

    Thanks!

I looked it up again and found an entry that says it is a 150 at 159g/km, so
I am pretty sure it is a 150. I think it is just the insurance database
that has it wrong. Will have to make sure they get it right when I change
vehicle on my insurance - don't want them wriggling out of a claim!

Direct Line had my 150 down as a 120. I told them, and they didn't seem too
surprised, and altered it on their database with no argument. (might have
been different if it was the otherway round I guess)

Did they charge you any more money though?

When I was researching, there was £20-30 difference between the best quotes
on an online insurance search engine. Strangely enough, the 180bhp 3.0 CDTI
came up somewhere between the two 1.9s...

Even if it was the other way around (you have a 120 and they are insuring
you for a 150) they would use it as an excuse to wriggle out of paying out.
