I am sure this has been mentioned before but I cant remember what I

Turn OFF ignition > press and HOLD odometer trip reset button >
turn on ignition whilst still holding trip reset button > keep
holding trip reset button 'til - - - - appears in odo display >
release trip button = job done

Hold the trip reset in when starting the engine.....

when you switch off and restart it will no longer be there.

Anyone know what is the trigger for this event? Mileage? engine hours?
    something else?

Mine's a 2001 (Y) Astra and the trigger is the mileage, ie. service interval
    every 20k.

I usually change the oil & filter in between this figure though ! I dont
like the idea of services every 20k !!

Our Zafira must be based on date and miles done because it shows insp
just before 12 months are up. Distance wise we fall short of the 20k
    service but the indicator shows
