    Hi,

I have owned an X reg Vectra for about 6 months. I was at a filling
station yesterday and couldn't get the petrol flap to open.

Does anybody know why it would get stuck and how it can be released?
These cars don't have locks on the petrol flaps or a small-lever by the
    driver's seat.

    Thanks

I suspect that the petrol cap does in fact have a lock - a small electric
motor will shoot a bolt into the cap to stop thieves opening it to nick your
fuel. The lock normally operates at the same time as the central locking -
so if you locked the car when you got out to refuel, then you would have
also locked the fuel cap along with the doors.

Or could be the electric motor is buggered.

    Heck what do I know?

On my Corsa one press of the remote only opens the drivers door, a second
press is needed to open the other doors and the fuel flap. If this still
does not work then you can get to the servo from inside the boot and
manually retract the locking bolt to get the flap to open.

stick your head in the boot and keep pressing to lock/unlock.
you should hear it trying to open.
they quite often get stuck [magnetic bolt]
or it gets dislodged from its housing and does not fire straight

if you look inside the boot around flap
area the carpet/side should pull down and away.
you should see a plastic lever pull that back and the bolt should release.
pop the bolt out on its cable and see if you can get it to work with a
    squirt of wd40.

The handbook should show you where the manual release is. It is in the
boot behind the side carpet though. There is a little plastic lock pin
that needs to be pulled back manually if the motor has seized.
