    Hi,

I have an older shape Astra 1.6 (early P Reg).
After having some damage repaired to the front, including replacing both
headlamp units, the light from the headlamps seems to form a kind of
'splash' in right front of the car in addition to the normal beam that light
the road ahead. It is more noticible when high beam is on.
On low beam, if I'm parked in front of a wall, the Drivers side beam seems
to be quite a bit higher up the wall than the other side. Is this just
shoddy alignment by the repair company, or could it be somthing else?

    Cheers,

    ChrisM

Check that the bulbs have been fitted properly. It sounds as if the
filaments are not centred in the reflectors

Well, I had a look at the bulbs last night. Took them out and put them back
in again, seem to be fitted correctly, but still have the same problem...
    Anyone got any other suggestions??

Is the inside of the glass clean?

They either need proper aligning and/or they've fitted LHD versions.

Left hand drive, so they have a pattern to the right instead of the
    left.

Of course, sorry to be dense!
Don't think it's that though, it's not that the pattern is 'pointing' the
wrong way, the distribution of the pattern seems wrong, big 'splodge' rather
than a nice even distribution of light...

Tell the garage and get them to fix or change them.

  11. You may find that the repairer has fitted Taiwanese 'pattern' parts instead
of the genuine Vauxhall OEM components. I had exactly the same problem with
my Omega. In my case I only replaced one headlamp unit so the difference
was very obvious when compared to the original. I've extended the mortgage
and saved hard, so next week I hope to be able to afford to buy the Vauxhall
('Hella') part and fit that instead ...
