Flat tyre

    I guess this could go to a more general group, but I've always had good
    advice here.
    Last week in central Manchester I pulled the Zafira over in an alleyway
    behind a parking garage, and ran the nearside front over a beer bottle :-(
    The tyre immediately deflated.

    Anyone know if it would be fixable, should I just take it to a tyre repair
    place?
    If not fixable, is it wise to get a second-hand one for use as a spare?

    Also a question about tyre rotation - the spare is now on the front
    nearside, but all the rest of the tyres have covered 30K miles.
    I wouldn't trust the repaired tyre to go back on there for motorway
    driving. Is there a good way to rotate the tyres here?

    ps. definite bad karma to the drunken arse who threw the bottle away.

    Just looked at the Kwikfit site.

    Would it be worth buying a new Continental tyre to match the spare,
    and keep the worn front one as a spare, ditching the punctured one?
    I guess you just get Kwik-fit to specify an exact match.

    any good online sources of the original fir Continental tyres?

    As long as the spare wheel is of the same size as the normal wheels
    then yes, that would be OK. Otherwise, if your standard wheels are
    alloys or the spare is a space-saver then I would replace the two front
    tyres (damaged one and the other undamaged one).

    no dump it
    too dangerous, and illegal under the small print in your insurance.

    not worth the risk of yours and others lives if it blows out on a motorway

    Keep the used front right tyre as a spare, and replace both front with
    new tyres, same make and model.
    Zaf -> front drive, best to have a pair of tyres equally new (or worn)
    on the same axle.
    IMPOW is better to have a slightly worn tyre as a spare, because it is
    more likely to replace another blown-up worn tyre, keeping the car more
    balanced than a new spare on one side and a worn on the other.
    For best performances, safety and driving comfort is mandatory to have
    paired tyres on the two axle.

    ...and if all the tyres are the same and the backs have even wear put
    the new fronts on the back and the backs on the front.

    Some tyre repairs are legal though and shouldn't cause any undue worry
    on a motorway.
