My Astra is just under 3 years old and since last week the engine management
light has been coming on for about a minute after starting. It does this
first thing in a morning and when I leave work later in the day. I've
noticed that it must only be happening when the car is starting from cold
because I went to the shops the other night and after standing for an hour
or so it started up without the light coming on. Can anybody suggest things
to check for, as I'm told it will cost me £76 to get the dealer to have a
look. I'm going to check oil and water at the weekend when I can see what
I'm doing, so if anybody can suggest anything else to look at it would be
    greatly appreciated.

    thanks

    Hi

If the car is "just under 3 years old" isn't it still under warranty? So
the dealer shouldn't charge you £76.

Depends what the fault is apparently, in the 2nd & 3rd years the warrenty
only covers certain things. I've been told that it will be £76 to look at
it, but if the fault turns out to be covered I will not have to pay the £76.
As I have no idea what is and what isn't covered I thought it would be good
to have a look myself if it was something simple.

They are lifting your leg - under 3 yrs old and 60k miles - how can the
management light coming on not be warranty?
A glow plug will be faulty causing light to come on.

Well thats what I'm thinking, have e-mail Vauxhall to see what they say, but
no responce so far. Is there any way I can see the error codes myself?

Never done this before is it documented anywhere? Don't want to stick a
paper clip into the wrong connector and bugger something up.
