- Crank and airflow sensor's on a "97" 1.8 16v veccy.... problems.

  1. Once again my little orange light is shining brightly.
I pulled the codes using the paperclip method and discovered the
reason this time is yet another crank sensor needs replacing and new
one to me is the air inflow sensor.
the car is starting to chug which i guess is to do with the air intake
    fingy.
is there any cheap way at all to remedy these faults cos if its not
    one thing then its another.
Once upon a time i was happy with my little veccy but now if it wasnt
for the fact ive spent a fortune on it i would happily give it away.

  3. < snip >

While at work today i mentioned my airflow problem to an auto spark
that does the electrical work on the lorry fleet here.
He suggested running some "Reddex " through the carb and on
inspection the carb was all gacky and yucky and the hose from the head
to the air intake was perished and ripped,so i split the hose and
reconnected it (too late to get one today) and run the reddex through
the carb and hey presto, one big cloud of smoke later and the EMS
light is off and no bunnyhopping.

Does this sound right to anyone ?
