when trolls like you grow up you will admit that you dont know it all.

and if you read the last bit just before yours then it looks as though you
    were replying to me.
if you were not replying to me then it would have payed you to snip the
    post.

besides i do not think the corsa owner lives in aussie land

  5. I suggest you first take a lesson in spelling as "strait" is spelt straight.
Then I suggest you take a lesson in reading as this may be of benefit to
    you.
Then you would be able to read that I was giving advice to the Corsa owner
    you moron.

Hey Straight Talk - I get the distinct impression you have no idea what you
are talking about, and are in fact a right plebian and philistine. After
you have looked up the words you don't understand in this message, do reply
and make youself look even more of a plonker.

You have no credibility at all on this newsgroup.

I usually ignore the likes of Shite talker cause thats all she is,
Clueless and offensive as well. Garage in the West end me ring. I
wouldn't let a knobber like you put a chain on a push bike, who needs
your Free advice anyways, now go away

mike, not to question your recommendation but, will that scanner work,
i don't think my car is Obd/eobd compliant , the plug located inside
the car beside the fuses is a different shape. I think that scanner
woks for all petrol +2001( i could be talkng pure kook here tho.)
I've sent an e-mail to the supplier to double check anyways. Thanks for
    you help guys
    Keep ye posted..

Ps im from ireland btw and very dissapointed we're not in the world cup

You'll probably hear that ODBII was a requirement from 1998 onwards, or
some such, but as I understand it that is only for the American market.

Can you describe the connector (no. of pins, etc)?, did you check the
link to the site to "flash" the fault code using the paperclip method,
    previously posted?
Not half as disappoint as me for getting England in the office sweep
stake. £2.50 I'll never see again.

Not 100% sure but its by far the cheapest reader ive ever heard of brand
new. course, there isnt any fancy features but the main thing is it reads
the codes. EOBD means it should fit most cars, but youve done the right
thing in emailing them for more info. Please let us know what they say.

a 2000 corsa should be EOBD compliant. but i do not know where the plug is
    on it.

  12. Ha-ha you don't even know where the plug is and yet your giving advice?
See what I mean about pay peanuts and you get a monkey.
All you have here is a bunch of pathetic weekend mechanics that between them
could not undo a wheel nut.

It now transpires that the original poster was Irish which explains the
    lower intelligence.
To make it funnier we have an Aussie halfwit giving advice which by his own
admission he is unfamiliar with the layout of the car.
Talk about the blind leading the blind you lot are priceless.

As I said earlier I have a garage in the west end and as much as I hate to
give free advice you retards need help to tie your laces.
I think it was Chris that called into question my knowledge of cars and
    ownership of said garage.
So I tell you what I'm going to do blabbermouth I will put my money where my
    mouth is.

I will not post the name of the garage here in an open forum and
respectfully ask that you don't either.
All you need to do is set up a free email account yahoo, Hotmail or anyone
of your choice and post the address here.
The reason for the free account is so you don't have to worry about spam you
use it once and chuck it away.
If the thought of this scares you to much I will set up a free account and
post the address here for you to contact me.

I will then give them the name and address of my garage and you can search
in www.yell.com for the phone number.
There is no point in just giving you the number in the email as it does not
prove that it is a garage.
You simply call at anytime anyday between 800am-6.00pm and ask for the boss
and you will find your talking to me.
So Chris you can then interrogate me about my knowledge of cars or if you
live near the west end feel free to drop in.

All I ask is that you report your findings back here and tell them if what I
    said is 100% true.
Now be a man Chris and have the courage of your convictions and put your
    money where your mouth is.
I know that your going to weasel out now with some lame excuses but you may
    surprise us all.

    The balls in your court.

Its beside the fuses in the fusebox under the steering wheel. The
connector is called an aldl connector and can have 10 or 16 pins
    depending on year.
My ones got 16 pins. I'm gonna try and flash the thing with a paper
clip tomorrow, just to see if shite talker was right. it should be ok
as long as i know which pin is the +12v and dont use that one. Failing
this i'm gonna take to a dealer to get the F/C read and figure what i
need to do. Keep ye posted.

Daft, and late question, but what area of the country are you in?
(thinking about getting *some* use out of the battery in the ODBII/CAN
reader I've got in the back of the car).

Having suffered from a "quick to get gummed up" ICV and recognising the
symptoms, I second your ICV diagnosis. Mine only stopped getting gummed up
after I fitted an oil separator.

Well, brought the car into an opel/vauxall dealership yesterday to get
the fault codes read. 10 f/c showed up. The guy there then erased them
and started the engine again to see which code appeared first. It was
the idle control valve and Rpm(Crank Sensor) that appeared first. I
bought both the idle control valve -which was a little black thing
(when i opened the old one later it consisted of a motor with a screw
shaft which turned a cogged wheel to push a plunger thing in/out which
would press against the idle lever on the trottle body lever -is this
an idle stepper motor or an idle control valve?)and the crank sensor.
The crank sensor worked cause now the car dosen't cut out when it the
car gets warm but the ICV didn't make any odds. The car is still
    ticking erratic.
Interestingly when i had a closer look at the ICV, i noticed it didn't
make contact with the Throttle lever at all and didn't plunge in/out,
therefore there must be no volts getting to it. So while i had the old
one open i put current through it to see if it worked and it did. this
makes me think that idle control fault is more to do with the wiring or
the source of volts to it rather then the unit itself- wasted €150 on
an idle control valve.Could this mean a fried ECu- what lies between
the ICV and ECu, fuses, relays etc or could the volts not be coming
through because of another fault in some other sensor.
the technician also told me that the car is OBD compliant but i have my
doubts, i read somewhere that a sign of OBD complinant is when the
engine checklight dashlight is an outline rather than filled in, as it
    is on my Corsa.
