I have advertised my wife's Zafira in the local paper and Autotrader website
but had no buyers , (1.8 Elegance, just over 2 years old, 18k miles,
immaculate. We're selling it as she now has a Company car)
Priced it less than guide price from "Parkers" and a lot less than
    equivalent vehicles on Dealers forecourts.
Any suggestions as to how I can sell it quickly ?

Zafira's should sell quickly and easily.
How long was it on Autotrader? How about a link to it?

  4. They usually go quickly, a least with my recent experience of looking at
    them down in Devon.

It could just be that you've offered it at such a bargain price, that people
are looking for a catch, thinking there might be something wrong, or it's
one of the old "Friday Afternoon" models.

Can't believe you didn't sell it - only seen one private seller in the local
paper for months and it went instantly.

if zafiras are the lemons that everyone says they are
(www.peachorlemon.co.uk or google for "zafira spare wheel theft") how come
nobody wants to sell them ?

I can't believe it either; I was after a 4 year old ish 1.8 elegance
    last month.

2 had gone the same morning the sellers put them on the web; I bought
the third before the dealer had put it on display.

Well it's still for sale, I don't know how to put a link here directly to
it on the AutoTrader website, (something to do with javascript perhaps?) ,
but if anyone searches for a 1.8 Zafira under 3 years old (private sale) in
the Nottingham area they should pick up the advert.
    It's on at £8,250 ONO.

I priced it lower thinking I would get a quick sale - - looks like that idea
    backfired !!

just as a matter of interest what MPG do you get with it ?
my 1600 only does about 30 on the motorway and 35 about town

Are you sure you get better MPG around town than on the m/way ?

    would seem so
at 80MPH+ you can actually see the fuel gauge move !

The aforementioned 1.8 I've just bought wifey does (according to the
computer) 32 mpg on short school run type stuff; 35 mpg on mixed
driving and can just about reach 40 on a long run ( e.g. Christchurch
    to Lyme Regis & back).

It does seem low geared though ( 3000 rpm = 60 ish in top); so I can
imagine the mpg dropping off pretty rapidly beyon 70.

I had one caller who is buying it (at £8k), maybe most folk around here are
too wary of a bargain ?

To tell the truth I never measured the mpg, but did notice quite an increase
in petrol expenditure with the wife changing from an Astra 1.4 to the Zafira
    1.8. (heavier car, bigger engine - I should have added 2 + 2 together !)
The few times I drove it on the Motorway I continually tried changing to the
non-existent sixth gear ! There is definately a design fault with the
    highest gear.
The rear squealing disc brake calipers were replaced under warranty, and the
spare is still there ! (always parked on the road too)
Other than that we were very pleased with it and will probably get another
    when circumstances allow.

The one fault on the Zafira I've just bought is that the rear brake
calipers squeal - sounds like it's a 'characteristic' then :-/

I too keep trying to change into 6th gear on motorways.

If your Zafira is still under warranty, a Vauxhall Dealer should replace
the squealing rear calipers without any hassle. Otherwise I've read that the
job could be more than £300 ! This (loud squealing) happened in dry
weather rather than wet, and only when reversing.
If your VIN number is between WOLOTGF7522199742 and WOLTGF7522229096
(recalled because a batch of brake caliper pistons may release hydrogen gas
into the brake fluid - if faulty the calipers are replaced) , then
hopefully Vaux should do repairs even if out of warranty .
I wondered if the calipers were occasionally making the pads touch the discs
(without pressing the brake pedal !)which would affect mpg ? .

There must be quite a difference in the gearing between our 1.8 Auto and a
manual 5 speed. Ours is turning over at 3500rpm at 75 in top (4th). Round
town we get anything from 24 in winter to 29 in summer with 32 - 36 on long
runs. Interestingly we get better mpg at 80mph than 60/65mph. This has
been the same since we had the car back in '02.

The upside of this is that around town, 5th is very usable, making a
pleasant change (for us) from our old 1.7 vectra, where even 4th was a bit
of a struggle sometimes at 30.

But I wouldnt say it was a design fault myself. not until you've driven one
7 up with some luggage as well do you appreciate the lower gearing!
