    Wife's X reg Astra 1.6 16v - engine management light
    staying on.
Had a quick look today and noticed that the air con is not
working. The pump is not running and there is no live feed
to the pump. Also, the n/s front main beam headlight is dead,
no live feed there either. No work has been undertaken on
the car and in fact the vehicle has not been driven during
the last 7 months but has been parked in our garage.
I have checked all fuses and cannot find the source of the
problems, but then whilst I can undertake some basic tests,
I am not a mechanic. Is there a relay or something I should
    be looking for?

Any advice or suggestions from you experts would be
    very welcome. Thanks

Thanks Dave, that one had already occurred to
me and has been ruled out. Good suggestion
though. I am still hoping somebody here might be
able to pinpoint the answer. It's strange that these
faults have mysteriously developed when nobody
has driven the car or even lifted the bonnet.
My hitherto affection for Vauxhall cars is rapidly
    starting to wane.

  4. Any car parked up for 7 months will have problems!

I would start by getting the codes read by a Vauxhall dealer or someone with
    a suitable reader.

Wires don't just fail for mo reason so it either wasn't working when parked
up or something has damaged it.

If the cam belt change was a bit ham-fisted. the cam sensor may have been
damaged. this can give intermittent limp-home faults
