    Hia,
I have an Astra 2.0T SRi. Every time I drive off, I hear a slight
sort of gentle clunk, from behind the area of the rear dash, drivers side.
This occurs after about 10 seconds of driving.

Maybe "clunk" is the wrong word as it is not a harsh sound. Someone told me
it's the ABS / power steering re-purging, and is normal. As anyone else had
this on an Astra (Mk5)? Don't know if this is particular to the SRi or all
    astras.

It seems to be regular IE does it every time, not when the engine is idling,
    only after I drive off.

    Any feedback appreciated.

    Cheers

    Hi Rod

I had a similar issue on my 06' SRi Sporthatch -a clunk when pulling away
and occasionally when going over a rough patch in the road. The dealer
couldn't cure it. So a bit of investigation found the source - the plastic
removable trim panel above the pedal box. Took it off - no more clunking.
Don't get any noises from the ABS/power steering.

We noticed the same problem on our Astra Sri and the dealer said it was
the ABS system and that it was perfectly normal.

Could be, our venerable old Volvo does it. To test the ABS, It
momentarily 'dabs' the brakes few seconds after take off, but not every
    time

If it does it at around 14mph it is normal - SRi stability program waking
    up.
