Astra Rust on backbox

Has anyone noticed rust and flacky paint on the back box at the tail pipe of
the exhaust. I Bought my 52 plate Astra Club what a shock I found when I
looked under the car and saw the rust . I had to rub it down and paint
Hammeright on it .After talking to my mate he looked at his Astral an 02
plate and it was rusted through to a hole.Has anyone else noticed the same
problem ?.

Lots of rust on the back box of my mum's Astra but it's double-skinned and
nowhere near rusting through.

 

Rust on the actual tailpipe and backbox are common on most makes but I
imagine it is just surface rust.
